Don't You Hate It When..........?

The other morning I was taking a shower and I realized I have way more shampoo that conditioner. That means I will have to go and buy conditioner before I need to buy shampoo. I like my things to run out at the same time. I use to have this problem when I used Mary Kay too. It started me thinking about some things that I love to hate.

Don't you hate it when.....

Your fingernail bends backwards? (I just got the heeby jeebies writing about it!)

You have all the laundry neatly folded on top of the washing machine (I hate to put clothes away) and your son pulls one thing out of the middle of his pile of neatly folded clothes and everything falls over?

You mop the floor, and someone spills something sticky on it?

Your son leaves a whole carton of ice cream out?

When someone in the family leaves the bread bag open and the bread dries up?

You find neatly folded clothes in the laundry chute?

Your youngest son is showing you how strong he is by lifting a whole gallon of milk over his head and you tell him to be careful and he drops the whole gallon of milk on the stairs and the plastic breaks and spills on the carpeted stairs and even though you clean it up it still smells like sour milk the next day?

You fill a super, expensive prescription for your son, and then he has a reaction to it?

You donate a few dollars to a charity and the next thing you know, everyone and their dog is calling you for money?

Your weight and credit card balance never go down?

Yellow jackets start building a nest in your kid's playhouse?

Your car needs repair?

Your kids have diarrhea and you have to tell your youngest he can't play T-ball tonight, and the diarrhea song keeps running through your mind. "When you're sliding into third, and you feel a......"?

You can't find what you are looking for?

That was fun! What do you love to hate?

MRE'S = YUMMY

This evening I was just about to get up off my behind and make dinner for the first time since Monday, and the power went out. Everyone was very surprised because it wasn't even windy. I started wondering what to make for dinner since spaghetti was now out.

"MRE's!" suggested Nathan, he was very excited at the idea. He always wants to eat MRE's (Meals Ready to Eat) when the power goes out. I usually tell him that we need to save them for when we really need them.

"OK" I sighed, "Why don't you bring all of them in from the garage and we will pick what we want to eat."

I was very surprised when Nathan and Travis brought up four boxes of MRE's.

Nathan opened the boxes and lovingly sorted them.

"I want spaghetti." said Travis.

Marcus made a face.

I chose a mystery pasta MRE, Marcus got a chicken noodle thing and Nathan picked out Alfredo.

We opened the packages and warmed the main dishes with the chemical warmers that are included inside.

Mine never warmed up and smelled weird, Marcus wouldn't touch his, Travis took maybe two bites, and Nathan ate his and Marcus'.

I guess we weren't hungry enough except for Nathan. He is a growing teenager who is in track and field.

The MRE boxes were dated 2005. Do you think I saved them too long? Or was tonight not special enough?

I am so glad the power came back on! Spaghetti tomorrow!

Firsts of the Year

Yesterday was the warmest day of the year so far, and full of firsts.

-I watered my flowers for the first time.

-I wore Capri's and sandals for a few hours.

-We ate cantaloupe for dinner.

-I turned the heat off for the whole day.

-I got hot doing housework.

Spring is my favorite season of the year. I love the spring bulbs, flowering trees, longer days and sometimes warmer weather. I don't love the allergies, but everything else is wonderful. If I was to rank the seasons favorite to least favorite it would be Spring, Fall, Summer, and finally Winter.

What is your favorite season?

Oh, and it is suppose to rain tomorrow.

Bad Easter Bunny

The Easter Bunny at the Wagner house was feeling fat and lazy this Easter. She bought some candy for the boys and filled the plastic eggs after taking her cut of the chocolate. She was not inspired about what gift to give each boy though. She finally decided to buy each of them a small box of Legos. This was probably the one and only year that all the boys would be into Legos since there is an 8 year age difference between Nathan and Marcus.

When she got to Walmart, she wasn't sure which Legos the boys already had. She guessed and chose three different boxes, and hoped for the best. She also wasn't sure which Legos to give each boy. Saturday night she filled their baskets with paper grass, (she cares about the environment), a little bit of candy, and the Legos.

Easter morning at 6:00 the boys woke me up all excited. "Mom! the Easter Bunny came!" said 9 year-old Travis, who also still believes in Santa. I went downstairs to see their baskets.

"Who's basket is who's?" asked Nathan eyeballing one of the Star Wars Lego sets.

"I don't know!" I answered, "You figure it out."

Nathan and Travis got the Star Wars Legos and Marcus got a Power Miners Legos set that he already had.

Bad Easter Bunny!

Parenting Tip- Just Yell No!

I'm a very experienced mother, my oldest is 13 1/2, you see. That is why I can't believe it took me this long to figure this trick out. I will share it with you to save you many years of aggravation.

If your kids are anything like my kids they like to ask you questions while you are in the shower. Am I right? You get in the shower, ready to enjoy a few moments of alone time and they come asking.

"Mom! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?" Is all you hear over the bathroom fan and the running water.

"I can't hear you! I'm in the shower!" You yell.

"MOM!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?" They ask louder.

Having no idea what they are asking, just yell back, "NO!"

The first time I tried this with my youngest, I heard a scream of frustration and some kicking of the door and then silence.

"Cool!" I thought.

After my shower I sweetly explained to Marcus that I wasn't able to hear him while I was showering. That is why I had said no. I then asked him what he had wanted. "I forgot." he answered.

I guess it wasn't that important.

I have had the opportunity to yell "NO!" several times now while showering and it works every time.

You're Welcome.

He Did It!

Marcus wanted his training wheels off his bike last fall. He begged and begged Bert to take them off. After Bert took his training wheels off, Marcus freaked out and was too scared to ride his bike. We tried a few times before it got cold, but he was too nervous. Then winter came.

Sunday I got his bike out of the garage and said, "Let's get on your bike again."

Marcus got on his bike and took off. He is so proud of himself and was heard on Sunday saying "This is my best day ever!" and "This is Marcus' day!

I Have Now Seen Everything!

It's Spring Break this week. We have been lazy, sloths all week. Staying up late and sleeping-in in the morning, except for my husband. The weather has been very cold, and wet, and yucky. My boys are gorging themselves on video games and TV while I play with my dolls. I am such a good mom.

Last night the boys were all in bed, or so I thought, and I was messing around on the computer. Nathan came downstairs and said. "Mom, Travis is sleeping on the table."

I went into our dining room to check it out, then I did as every good mother would do- I got my camera.

We asked Travis why he was sleeping on the table, and he said, "I was bored."

Now I have seen everything. I would have left him there, but I was afraid he might fall off the table.
