I'm a very experienced mother, my oldest is 13 1/2, you see. That is why I can't believe it took me this long to figure this trick out. I will share it with you to save you many years of aggravation.
If your kids are anything like my kids they like to ask you questions while you are in the shower. Am I right? You get in the shower, ready to enjoy a few moments of alone time and they come asking.
"Mom! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?" Is all you hear over the bathroom fan and the running water.
"I can't hear you! I'm in the shower!" You yell.
"MOM!! mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm?" They ask louder.
Having no idea what they are asking, just yell back, "NO!"
The first time I tried this with my youngest, I heard a scream of frustration and some kicking of the door and then silence.
"Cool!" I thought.
After my shower I sweetly explained to Marcus that I wasn't able to hear him while I was showering. That is why I had said no. I then asked him what he had wanted. "I forgot." he answered.
I guess it wasn't that important.
I have had the opportunity to yell "NO!" several times now while showering and it works every time.
You're Welcome.
It's Been a very long time

NO is always a good answer.
: ) LOL!! You are AWESOME!! Thanks for the tip!! I'll be sure to try it out!!
I am totally gonna try that tomorrow, and the next day...and the next.
How come you can hear them scream when you're in the shower/bathroom, but they can't hear you scream back? Does this happen to you? I get the, "Mooooooooooom, where aaaaaaare you?" yell over and over. And I'm SCREAMING back, "In the shower." And he NEVER hears, just repeats. Drives me nuts.
I have done the EXACT same thing!! When they yell "MOM!" at me when THEY'RE in the shower, I pretend I can't hear them!
You are too funny for your own good!
